According to me Portugal is a country that has stood alone for a many years, and was on my holiday wish list for a very long time. It brought us immense pleasure and it was indeed an overdue moment to touch Lisbon and we got set to explore the country. Though the attractions in Lisbon are few, they are varied and it took us not that long to explore all places here. Let us briefly put forth the best Lisbon sightseeing options that could be organized perfectly for the best holiday.

Top attractions in Lisbon:

1.Belem:This should perhaps be the largest photographed building lying along the coastal regions of Lisbon. This is found 5 km west of the city center. Lisbon families could be found enjoying the afternoon sunshine at the park and the promenade in front of this popular spot whose age dates back to the 16th century. The tower has been included under the UN heritage status monuments.

2.Downtown area-The central area in Lisbon could be easily accessed by foot, trams and public transportation services that are available all through the day. This is a city of hills so never forget to make use of the funicular Elevadores that are bright yellow colored cars to shuffle up and down the hills. They also offer best views of great attractions here. The cathedral, the statue of Dr Jose Thomas is other places to see in Lisbon. This is sort of an aquarium with the central tank filled with rare species of aquatic world, tough to see in the natural world. The mystical sea dragon is the highlight here and all the species seems to live in perfect harmony in their water body.

5.Sintra:
Offers one of the best Lisbon sightseeing options, located 30 km out of Lisbon and is the home for some of the magnificent Pena palaces. The place is connected with train services directly to the city centre. It is important to reach early for this place to avoid problems in navigation through large tour groups.
